Abstract

This study presents the first report of leucism in the Large-eyed stingray Hypanus marianae, which is endemic to Brazil. The leucistic specimen was obtained from landings of an artisanal fleet in Pernambuco targeting the mutton snapper, Lutjanus analis. The leucistic individual was a three-year-old subadult female, and morphometric analysis revealed no discernible differences between the leucistic individual and its pigmented conspecifics.
