Abstract

Throughout history, the development of public policies within the framework of Higher Education has been integratingdifferent quantitative measures of the performance of institutions with the aim of evaluating the quality of the teaching-learningprocess. Currently, the indicators are integrated into different evaluation programs and rankings as a tool for evaluating the quality ofeducational institutions within the framework of Higher Education. Although there is consensus among different authors regarding theusefulness and validity of the use of indicators in the evaluation of universities, there are discrepancies in terms of their identification, both in the purpose they pursue, as in their typology and degree of importance.
