Résumé

Understanding the evaluation in public policies as a field of studies and practices already dense and plural, this article seeks to problematize its historical developments and its current configuration from an epistemological perspective. This look sought, on the one hand, to privilege the strong relationship between the main theoretical and methodological expressions of such field; and, on the other, to reveal and interpret the most substantial valuation disputes that shape its discontinuities and contradictions. From the point of view of the method, this research was developed as a state-of-the-art type, giving particular attention to the literature that focused on classificatory proposals in public policy evaluation. Structured in six sections, this article also offers its own path for a classification, by epistemologies, of the current configuration of the field.
