Ditadura militar, escrita e resistência em "Essa Terra", de Antônio Torres
Abstract
At the end of the last century, part of literary criticism devoted itself to evaluating the production published in the years of the military dictatorship, debating how some authors reacted - in their works - to censorship and repression. They found that, at the time, literature was one of the means to publicize atrocities and avoid imposed silences, with the most significant challenge being to publish works critical of the political order without embarking on Manichaeism. Considering the historical past and the present moment, this work demonstrates how Torres transformed historical time into fiction, analyzes the work The Land, and what aesthetic elements were used to transform reality into fiction. We will follow Bosi (1996; 2002) and his ideas on resistance narratives, as well as authors who address the relationship between books and the military dictatorship, such as Pellegrini (1996) and Reimão (2011), among others. We conclude that Torres opposed dictatorial forces, transforming the tension between individuals and society into literary art, making creation and representation dialogue with each other, thus overcoming the walls of politics and reflecting on the literary.
