Abstract

This is a qualitative approach research combined with Paulo Freire´s methodological framework, consisting of three dialectical moments: thematic research, coding — decoding and critical unfolding. The aim was to promote health for adolescent mothers who participated in the Family Health teams activities, in a municipality of Santa Catarina. The survey was carried out between September and November, 2009. Four circles of culture with two hours of duration were constituted, with an average of nine participants. The thematic investigation revealed eleven topics. Two of them were selected for encoding — decoding: future/child care and financial support. Health promotion actions were developed for critical disclosure, empowerment perspectives and reality transformation. The group was encouraged to its autonomy, facilitating its inclusion in supporting institutional programs, participation in the local community council as well as identifying local possibilities for child care, work and study.
