Abstract

A study made in a Fortaleza’s public hospital, with 8 nurses of specialized clinics and surgery, in the time interval July/August 1999. We addressed the rights of the hospitalized person, exploring nurses’ knowledge and practice. We used interviews and observation. Methodology is quantitative, using a historic-structural approach. Observing the nurses, we verified incoherence between discourse and praxis, neglecting client’s rights, delegating exclusive cares, among other. We concluded there is still much to be explored, discussed and done for customer’s citizenship and his rights can be learned and integrated to the everyday of hospitals.
