Abstract

The effect of azadirachtin and neem seed aqueous extract at different concentrations was studied in greenhouse conditions at “Universidade Federal do Ceará” aiming to the black aphid, Aphis craccivora Koch, control. The treatments were applied on soil to reach root system of cowpea plants previously infested with aphids. The most concentrations of azadirachtin affected the nymphs, with efficacy varying from 39.16 to 83.81% at 192 to 1536 ppm, respectively. The same ocurred with seed extracts, but with a maximum efficacy of 71.40% at 128 g.200 mL-1. The imidacloprid synthetic insecticide caused an efficacy of 99.9%. It was different from the other treatments.
