Abstract

This article highlights the journalistic and fictional production of Dalcídio Jurandir (1909- 1979), a Brazilian writer who created the cycle Extremo-Norte (Far North), a literary project of ten novels set in the Amazon region of Pará, and constitutes, as a vast panel about the region, what justifies the writer being called Amazonian Novelist. In this opportunity, we want to demonstrate that underprivileged childho‐ od is not a particularity observed only in his fiction, but is also present in other writings. Thus, we focus on the journalistic side of the Marajoara writer, bringing a reportage and a chronicle that present and denounce poverty and social inequality in the Brazilian context. This study is the result of bibliographical research and interpretative analysis. For this we revisit the Brazilian digital hemeroteca, texts by the author, and the theoretical contributions of FURTADO (2011), SOUZA (1988) e VELOSO (2019; 2022)
