Epistemic extractivism in Brazil
Keywords:
Epistemic extractivism. Decolonization. Hegemony. Whiteness.Abstract
This paper introduces the concept of epistemic extractivism to criticize the way in which dissident knowledges (especially from the Global South) are appropriated by hegemonic theories (Western philosophy and psychoanalysis) without recognizing their decolonial radicality. This paper argues that this practice decontextualizes and neutralizes anticolonial critiques, transforming them into "academic commodities" in the service of whiteness.
