Abstract

The aim of this paper is to propose an interpretation of the first section of the argument on Anamnesis, in the Phaedo. My objective is to “save” “sense-perceptions” (aisthêseis) from the criticism they are submitted to in other sections of dialogue. Contrary to what is stated in many places, sense-perceptions are not only the initial moment of the reminiscence of Forms, as they themselves promote the “knowledge” of the sensible world through their “reference” to Forms.
