The admirarion (Wonder) constitutes the point of departure of philosophizing. This article aims to identify hermeneutic keys for its understanding. To this end, it undertakes a critical reexamination of several theses on the subject. This analysis first highlights the necessity of acknowledging its conceptual origin within the Platonic–Aristotelian framework. Subsequently, it examines certain procedural criteria concerning the manner in which the attitude of wonder has been situated within the stages of philosophical inquiry, while also recognizing that the difficulty inherent in defining this notion contributes to the absence of a unanimous position on the matter. Ultimately, beyond the theoretical framework of the discussion—articulated through specific invariants—the origin of philosophizing, as embodied in the experience of wonder, transcends unreflective obviousness insofar as it fundamentally transforms the human relation to the totality of reality.
