Considering the reflections developed by both thinkers on the concrete experience of existence, this article aims to present the understanding of the being-in-itself in the philosophy of Søren Kierkegaard and the being-for-the-other in the philosophy of Emmanuel Lévinas. The intention is not to make a direct comparison between them, but rather to comprehend how, despite their differences, both are deeply concerned with the singular existence of each individual. To this end, the work initially focuses on an analysis of Kierkegaard’s particular thought, followed by an exposition of Lévinas’s ideas. It is thus observed that both philosophers share a fundamental communion regarding the authentic experience of existence, which allows concluding that, despite historical distance and differing philosophical approaches, their thoughts follow convergent trajectories. This development proves to be of utmost importance to highlight the continuity and relevance of the reflection on the subject and their existence within contemporary philosophy.
