Temas do infectum e perfectum: uma leitura do verbo português pelo modelo latino

Abstract

The study of portuguese verbal conjugation, and other languages, nearly always is associated exclusively to exhaustive exercise of memorization, fortuitous and fickle. This paper proposes to show that the study of the verbs in Portuguese can be applied more logically and systematically. For this, the lexicographic model and the Latin verb-stems infectum and perfectum can serve as paradigm. The irregularity of the verbs in Portuguese, as in Latin, belongs to stems par excellence; the vocalic or consonantal exchanges are result of phonetic accidents, and seem to follow several patterns. To associate the process of formation of the verbs in Latin can be enough facilitator for teaching of the Portuguese at all levels.
