Portuguese Word-formation in Textbooks

Abstract

This paper results from the research project “O léxico no livro didático”, that has been developed since 2010, at the Language Institute of Universidade Federal da Bahia, based on the works of Irandé Antunes (2012), Carlos Alexandre Gonçalves (2007); Margarida Basílio (1998; 2006), Luiz C. de A. Rocha (1998), among others, about word-formation, vocabulary building and teaching. It aims to know if it is true what Antunes (2012) says about the fact that although the linguistcs studies have promoted some important changes in the teaching of text and discourse in Brazilian schools, these changes have not reached the teaching of word-formation and vocabulary building.
