Abstract

This paper aims to analyze the construction of compositional meanings in digital advertisements from the perspective of the Grammar of Visual Design and its contributions for the formation of the critical and reflexive reader and writer at school. In this context, we seek to verify the information value and the choices of intermodal integration in the composition of the visual space of the selected texts. For this, this work presents itself in qualitative and exploratory character and basic nature, being the corpus formed by five advertisements of famous brands in national circulation, highlighting digital multimodal images that broadcast on the web, and brings as a theoretical framework, mainly, the postulations of Kress and van Leeuwen (2021) and Painter, Martin and Unsworth (2013). The results clearly point out that the various semiosis of the texts are not excluded or isolated, on the contrary, they are constantly articulated in a chained network of meanings for the construction of meanings that promote the potentialization of the visual experience through language. Therefore, it is clear the importance and the need to work the text in the classroom from the perspective of multimodality, from a systematic, analytical and reflective study about the compositional meanings produced in texts in the advertising sphere, with the help of analysis tools of the Grammar of Visual Design.
