About the Journal

Entrepalavras, a journal linked to the Department of Vernacular Languages and the Graduate Program in Linguistics (MA and PhD) at the Federal University of Ceará, is an academic-scientific journal dedicated to publishing original and unpublished works of interest to linguistics, whether theoretical or applied, produced by undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate students from Brazilian or foreign universities.

Original, unpublished works that fit the journal's editorial policy and fall into the following categories may be submitted for publication:

  • original articles (presentation of unpublished scientific research results);
  • reviews (books published in their first edition no more than four years ago);
  • translations (articles or essays that contribute to linguistics, accompanied by authorization from the author/original journal).

Submissions must be made through the system. To do so, interested authors must register and submit their work.

Manuscripts approved upon submission (desk review) are evaluated by members of the Advisory Board and, eventually, by ad hoc consultants in a double-blind peer review system, in which the identities of the authors and reviewers are kept confidential. Approved works are reviewed by a team of reviewers for formal adjustments and published in continuous flow in a single volume (starting in 2025).

Open Access Policy

This journal offers immediate open access to its content, with no embargo period and no registration required. The journal is classified as “diamond open access (Diamond OA)” because the research results are openly available, with no fees charged to authors or readers.

Entrepalavras thus complies with the DOAJ definition of open access:

"...journals in which the copyright holder of an academic work grants usage rights to others using an open license (Creative Commons or equivalent), allowing immediate free access to the work and allowing any user to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or create links to the full texts of articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose."

The journal adopts the Creative Commons License (CC BY NC), described below.

Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY NC)

All articles are published under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY NC 4.0). Under this license, authors retain ownership of the copyright to their content, but allow others to remix, adapt, and build upon their work for non-commercial purposes, and although new works must give proper credit and cannot be used for commercial purposes, users do not have to license these derivative works under the same terms.

a) Authors retain copyright and grant the journal the right of first publication, with the work simultaneously licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution License, which allows the work to be shared with acknowledgment of authorship and initial publication in this journal.

b) Authors are authorized to enter into additional contracts separately for non-exclusive distribution of the version of the work published in this journal (e.g., publishing in an institutional repository or as a book chapter), with acknowledgment of authorship and initial publication in this journal.
