Functionalism and Text Linguistics: interfaces and dialogues

This volume focuses on discussing possible interfaces and dialogues between Functionalism and Text Linguistics. This approach is characterized by the study of language in use from a sociocognitive and interactional perspective, in which linguistic aspects are linked to their role in textual construction. From this analytical perspective, the structure, pragmatically motivated, would be described without disregarding an analysis of the larger context in which it is inserted, associating functionalist categories with textual categories. Papers that propose the analysis of linguistic phenomena from different functionalist approaches (North American Functionalism, Cognitive-Functional Linguistics, Functional Discourse Grammar, Systemic-Functional Linguistics, etc.) in interface with Text Linguistics, with a descriptive-analytical or pedagogical nature, as seen in Neves (2006), Castanheira (2022), Cavalcante (2024), among others, may be accepted.
