Formatting Standards (Mandatory Guidelines)
The journal Passagens strictly follows the normalization guides of the Library of the Federal University of Ceará (UFC). Your manuscript must meet the following criteria:
- Citations: Must be prepared in accordance with the ABNT NBR 10520:2023 standard. Consult the Citation Guide here.
- References: Must be formatted according to the ABNT NBR 6023:2018 standard. Consult the Reference Guide here.
Ensuring Blind Review (Author Anonymity)
To guarantee the impartiality of the peer review process, the manuscript must be fully anonymized. You must follow these two steps before submitting:
Step 1: In the body of the text
Do not fill in the authorship and institution fields in the template header. This information must be entered exclusively in the metadata fields of the OJS platform itself at the time of submission registration.
Step 2: Hiding the file metadata
Operating systems and text editors often record your name and personal data in the hidden properties of the .docx file. You can clear this information in two ways:
Option A: Through Microsoft Word itself (Recommended for all systems)
- Open the final file in Word on your computer and click File (in the upper left corner).
- In the Info tab, click the Check for Issues button and select Inspect Document.
- Make sure the Document Properties and Personal Information option is checked and click Inspect.
- On the line indicating that personal information was found, click the Remove All button and save the file.
Option B: Directly through File Properties (Without opening Word)
- On Windows: Right-click on the closed file and go to Properties. Access the Details tab and click the blue link Remove Properties and Personal Information (at the bottom). Select the option "Remove the following properties from this file", check the Author and Last saved by boxes (or click Select All) and click OK.
- On macOS (Mac): Finder (via the Get Info menu) does not allow direct removal of metadata from third-party files. Mac users must clean metadata through Word (Option A) or by accessing the privacy preferences of the editing software.
- On Linux: Depending on your distribution (Ubuntu, Fedora, etc.) and file manager (Nautilus, Dolphin), right-click, go to Properties and check the Details or Attributes tab to clear the fields. If your system does not allow direct editing, use the native LibreOffice/Word tool or the privacy utility MAT2 (Metadata Anonymisation Toolkit).
After completing the cleanup by any of the methods, save the file. Your document will be secure and ready to be submitted!
