HEAVY COLONIAL REMINISCENCES IN THE NOTEBOOK OF COLONIAL MEMORIES, BY ISABELA FIGUEIREDO
Abstract
Fourty years apart from the Carnation Revolution (1974) and Colonial War (1975), a critical reading of the long project for the portuguese empire is still needed, especially of the Salazarism and all events that occured in Africa, a trauma that still persists in haunting the country. In the light of Notebook Colonial Memories (2018), by Isabela Figueiredo, this essay aims to demonstrate how the novel discusses ancient themes of the national culture meanwhile some other history is being written for colonialism.
