Abstract

By using a Theory Analysis model in care for burn patients, this study aimed to analyze the concepts and sub-concepts of the Humanistic Theory. An exploratory-descriptive research was carried out between February and July 2004 at a Burn Treatment Centre in Fortaleza, Brazil. The sample consisted of two nurses and two burn victims. Health, human being and nursing were selected as concepts, while dialogue, encounter, presence, call, response and communion as sub-concepts. The application of these concepts focuses on the burn and the sub-concepts on the accomplishment of the procedures. The role of humanized care in the interpersonal relations inportance should be strengthened, along with instrumental care.
