Abstract
The presence of aflatoxin B1 in cashew kernel flour was detected for the first time in Brazil. The quantification confirmed levels below 2x10-9 kg kg-1. Therefore, it’s below the minimum level permitted by the international law. In this work the used samples were from different types (W4; W3; G2; F2; G1; SP2; X1; W1-320; P1m; LW1; SP3) of cashew kernel obtained from companies in Rio Grande do Norte and Ceará. This work aimed to adapt the analysis method by Thin Layer Chromatography for cashew kernel. The analysis consists of the identification of aflatoxins B1, B2, G1 e G2 and its respective quantification using defined concentration patterns of aflatoxins comparing the fluorescent color and Rfs value. The CCD showed efficient for the daily works of determination of aflatoxins in cashew kernel.
