Abstract

The understanding of reality develops in ideological social communication (MEDVIÉDEV, 2012). From this perspective, language is the main mediating instrument between me and the other; between me and the world. In this parameter, this study aims to investigate, in a profile of the social network Instagram, how the statements comically reconstruct the event about Jair Bolsonaro's visit to the wake of Queen Elizabeth II. To this end, it outlines the following objectives: (1) Identify, in the Jornal Sensacionalista profile, the publications that are characterized as carnivalesque about Jair Bolsonaro's visit to the wake of Queen Elizabeth II; and (2) Analyze, in the light of the concept of carnivalization, how language operates in the construction of statements that make up the referred publications. Theoretically, it is based on the conceptual framework of Dialogical Discourse Analysis (DDA), in particular, on the concepts of concrete utterance and carnivalization (BAKHTIN, 1981, 2015). Methodologically, this is a qualitative and dialogical research, whose corpus consists of two publications on the social network Instagram, which are part of the profile entitled Jornal Sensacionalista. The results point to the carnivalization of the two investigated publications, given the inversion of official and symbolic values into playful irreverence, based on the context of production and circulation, as well as language. In view of the results, it is concluded that language is “contaminated by laughter”, since it acts as a tool to provoke the ludic and the ironic and weaken the closed and systematic character of historical events.

Doutoranda e Mestra em Linguística pelo Programa de Pós-Graduação em Linguística (PROLING), da Universidade Federal da Paraíba (UFPB). Professora substituta no Departamento de Letras e Artes da Universidade Estadual da Paraíba (UEPB). Integra os grupos de pesquisas Teorias da Linguagem e Ensino (UFCG/CNPq) e o Projeto Ateliê de Textos Acadêmicos (ATA/CNPq/UFPB). Tem interesse e desenvolve pesquisas vinculadas à Linguística Aplicada com ênfase nos seguintes temas: gêneros discursivos/textuais, letramentos acadêmicos, processos de ensino-aprendizagem de produção textual acadêmica.
