This research seeks to understand how the perception of Adele's fans, called daydreamers, in Brazil, is established regarding the singer's image as a melancholic pop diva. In order to prove this hypothesis, we initially delve into perspectives on melancholy, especially addressing its creative capacity (Kehl, 2011; Peres, 2011; Silva, 2025) and resistance against neoliberal models (James, 2015). Then, we seek to describe a little about what a pop diva is (Lister, 2020; Soares, 2020) and how she is configured with her fans, through identities (Hall, 2022; Woodward, 2014), celebrity studies (Rojek, 2008; Duffet, 2014) and music (Denora, 2000). Following this, we deepen the perspective of capital and biography as essential parts for musical construction (Soares, 2022; Wang, 2025), especially in Adele. And, finally, we analyzed a digital questionnaire (Bernal, 2010) of 234 responses, of which only 155 were considered. They were collected from the Brazilian fandoms: AdeleLaurieBr (@adelelauriebr) and Adele Access Br (@adeleaccesbr), between 02/24/2025 and 04/08/2025. The analysis yielded results confirming the melancholic imagery around Adele, through the representation of symbolisms and bonds that fans create with the singer and her productions.
