Revista de Ciências Sociais (RCS), founded in 1970, is edited by the Department of Social Sciences of the Federal University of Ceará and is directed to the academic public in all areas of Social Sciences. The Journal publishes the results of empirical and theoretical research in Anthropology, Sociology and Political Science, in all its sub-areas and methodological aspects. Since 2018, we have adopted a quarterly periodicity with the first number referring to the months of March-June, the second referring to the months of July-October and the third referring to December-February, and always published at the first day of the first month following each period.

RCS is currently indexed at Portal de Periódicos Capes, Google Acadêmico, LiVre, LatindexDiadorim, Sumários.org, REDIB, MLA International BibliographyLatinREV, NSD-NorskSenter for Forskningsdata, DOAJDialNet, Road - Directory of Open Access Scholarly Resources, EBSCO Research Collections, CLASE – Citas Latinoamericanasen Ciencias Sociales y Humanidades and Mir@bel and has an editorial body of national and international projection. RCS publishes, in each issue, in addition to articles and book reviews received in a continuous flow, a central thematic dossier coordinated by renowned researchers from Brazilian and foreign universities.


Manuscripts are subjected to double-blind peer review chosen in accordance with proven knowledge in the article area and will evaluate the work following this model. The standard timeframe granted to reviewers for evaluation is one month, but extensions are possible on request. See the Authors Guidelines for more information and click here to begin the submission procedure.

It is important to note that submissions of articles written by more than one author must comply with the co-authoring criteria adopted by the journal and send, as an attachment, a statement attesting to compliance according to the following model.

Book Reviews should cover recent works, mentioning publications that do not exceed the last 5 years.

Dossier proposals should follow the ensuing instructions.
