30 YEARS OF THE UFC ACTUARIAL SCIENCES COURSE

Dear researcher,

The Undergraduate Course in Actuarial Sciences at UFC was created by Resolution No. 40 of 10/29/1992 of the Teaching and Research Council (CEPE) and by Resolution No. 10 of 11/03/1992 of the UFC University Council, having its beginning operating in 1993 with the entry of the first group.

The project to create the Actuarial Sciences Course, designed by Professor Emeritus Dr. Emílio Recamonde Capelo, was intended to meet the real and future needs of the regional job market. In operation since 1993 at FEAAC/UFC and linked to the Department of Administration (DA), the Actuarial Sciences Course is an evening higher education course in face-to-face mode and confers a bachelor's degree on completion and currently offers 35 places per year for entry into the first academic semester.

In 2023, a ceremony will be held to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the UFC Actuarial Sciences Course. In line with this initiative, Contextus – Revista Contemporânea de Economia e Gestão, currently classified as B1 in the Qualis-Capes stratum of its coverage area, will launch a special edition with scientific articles on topics of interest to the actuarial community.

The result of the special call for articles for this commemorative edition of Contextus magazine will be published in April 2023. Original literature review articles, essays or empirical studies in one of these and/or related areas will be received for evaluation and possible publication:

Supplemental Health
Insurance and Reinsurance
Pension
Financial management in Risk Institutions
Demography
Education and career in Actuarial Science

Such articles must focus on general themes involving one of these areas, subject to a maximum number of 5 authors per submission. Each author can only have one article accepted and published for this edition, without distinction between authorship or co-authorship.

All submission standards, evaluation policies, technical standards and any and all information about the journal can be found on the journal's website (http://www.periodicos.ufc.br/contextus).

Those interested in participating in the process must submit their articles in compliance with the journal's publication rules and standards and using the article templates available at the link http://www.periodicos.ufc.br/contextus/about/submissions#authorGuidelines.

Authors must inform at the time of submission, in the “Comments to the Editor” space, that their article is directed to this special edition (30 years of the UFC Actuarial Sciences Course).

Important dates:

Article submission: 11/11/2022 to 02/05/2023 (SUBMISSIONS CLOSED)
First round of evaluation and communication to authors: until 03/10/2023
Submission of corrected versions: until 03/25/2023
Final release of results: 04/03/2023
Launch of the Special Edition (Actuarial Sciences): in 2023
