Resumo

The aim of this research was to understand the vulnerability of the women before sexually transmitted diseases (STD) and to develop an educational orientation as they wait for gynaecological and obstetric appointments. The study was developed in a Family Health Basic Unit in the outskirts of Fortaleza – Ce. Thirty two women who were in the waiting room were subject of this study and the instruments used for data collection were the field diary and free observation of those women, which allowed us to identify and follow narratives of the most different aspects from some of those patients. The narratives showed that in the waiting room it is possible to notice vulnerability of pregnant or fertile women before STD. Another aspect noticed was that the waiting room comes to be a convenient area to develop an educational orientation about the prevention of such diseases.
