Abstract

This paper aims to reflect on different types of knowledge production in socio-environmental conflicts. The scientific mode refers to the type of knowledge produced by the scientific institution. The local / community mode refers to the type of knowledge produced from the experience and local practice of subjects in interrelation with a specific area such as the farmer with the land. The activist mode of production is the knowledge that results from networks of collective action composed of organizations, activists and their practices. The argument is that socio-environmental conflicts are spaces that allow the emergence of knowledge production networks, which results in the mobilization and creation of social categories with material and symbolic effects in society-nature relations.
