Public Policies for the Reconstrucion of Brazil

DEADLINE EXTENDED: March 1st, 2023

This dossier seeks to receive papers that address the theme of public policies within the context of the dismantling of the institutional framework erected in the wake of the process of redemocratization and the promulgation of the 1988 Federal Constitution. In this direction, the aim is to bring together papers that present theoretical and empirical elements on practices, experiences of elaboration, implementation and evaluation of public policies aimed at the promotion of social rights, expansion of citizenship and protection of human rights, with special attention to gender and race issues. We welcome contributions from researchers who propose theoretical and methodological approaches characterized by interdisciplinarity and dialogue between different fields of knowledge (political science, political economy, political sociology, law, public administration, etc.).

Public Policies, Gender, Sexuality and Discursive Practices in the Formative Context of Education in Human Rights

The current social conjuncture, permeated by so-called “liquid” relationships, in terms of Bauman (2004), has been characterized by specific ideological movements, arising from the new demands of an emerging society. The context of education therefore presents public policies that impact such emerging interests, both in terms of management and teacher training itself.

With this thematic dossier, we aim to welcome research that analyzes themultiple facets of public policies, gender, sexuality and human rights education. Brazilian public policies that involve gender and sexuality, from the perspective of Education in Human Rights, insofar as gender and sexuality are constituted as a human right, are stagnant in the current Brazilian conjuncture. Education in Human Rights is leveled by forming a culture of respect for the dignity of the human person, which involves values such as tolerance, solidarity, respect and peace. For this, we observe the reflections of Guacira Lopes Louro, Joan Scot, Judith Butler, Boaventura Sousa Santos, Paulo Freire, Vera Maria Candau, Silvana de Souza Nascimento, Salomão Barros Ximenes and Cláudia Pereira Vianna, which raise debates between researchers and academics committed to an intersectional vision to promote education in human rights, gender and sexuality for LGBTTIAP+ people.

In other words, we seek to encourage discussion about discursive practices on aspects related to gender identity and sexuality, by understanding public policies as reflections of the demands of a society in constant (re)construction of priorities. We understand that the advances in academic dialogues about this theme semioticize the engagement of the scientific community with regard to the need to follow the social
path from its own evolution. In this way, we understand that the public policies that govern educational practices today cannot be thought of in a way that is devoid of meanings, that is, they add discursive and ideological perspectives that impact the behavior of social actors involved in the process of articulation with educational institutions in all areas. the levels. Therefore, public policies on gender, in this instance,
gain unquestionable relevance, considering that they represent significant discursive encounters for the understanding of contemporary interactive practices.

Thus, we are interested in research that discusses issues related to public policies on gender and sexuality in any scope of education, taking into account the social impacts that this discourse can cause in the reality of the people involved. This Thematic Dossier will have the possibility of inviting national and foreign experts, who develop their research from this thematic focus. Thus, we intend to establish theoretical dialogues and exchanges of meanings with researchers from various higher education institutions, in order to foster the dialogical spirit of academic research practices.
