This research investigates the film King Car (2022), directed by Renata Pinheiro, through the combination of two central concepts: body and territory. First, we explore what transforms space into territory, considering both politics and imagination, with particular attention to the negotiations, and at times contradictions, that emerge between them. Second, we emphasize how the body is portrayed as being in tension, between the biological and the technological, the organic and the artificial. Thus, we argue in advance that the interaction between these two — body and territory — is more of a confrontation, unresolved yet undeniably compelling, especially when considering the perceptible reconfiguration that Carro Rei suggests: both in terms of the Northeastern imaginary it delves into, and the cinematic genre it engages with.
